Since 2014, the OSSPL has proven that the love of the game doesn’t have an expiration date. We are a league of men 70 and older who refuse to trade the diamond for the lazy-boy chair. While we play for the camaraderie, make no mistake: when the umpire calls “Play Ball,” the competitive fire burns as bright as ever. We play hard, we play fair, and we play for the sheer joy of the sport.

Every Tuesday morning at Glen Ashton Park, the OSSPL brings together decades of experience for one common goal: great Slo-Pitch. Our four-team league is built on a simple philosophy: Compete at 10:00 AM, celebrate at Noon. From May to October, we balance high-level play with the best post-game traditions in Oakville.

That sun is no joke lately—playing a full game in 35°C heat isn’t baseball, it’s a loyalty test for your deodorant.

The Breakdown

The Blues: Hallelujah! They finally remembered which direction to run around the bases and grabbed their first W. That 3-run triple in the 4th was beautiful, but let’s be honest, the real victory was anyone finding the energy to turn a double play without collapsing from heatstroke.
The Whites: These guys are just showing off now. Rolling through the league, eking out late-game wins, and making the rest of us look bad. At this point, their toughest opponent is the sunburn they’re getting while jogging the bases.
The Golds: Oh, buddy. They are in a funk so deep they could ground out in a game of slow-pitch teeball. Dropping a fifth straight loss while hitting into four double plays is impressive in all the wrong ways. When you have guys going 4-for-4 and 3-for-3 at the plate and you still can’t score runs, you know you’ve angered the baseball gods.

OSSPL sponsor Oakville Pump & Patio is our weekly post game venue from May to Sept. A reliable spot to celebrate the day’s wins (or vent about the losses) over cold beverages and good food. “Unmeasurable service” is the perfect way to describe a staff that can handle a crowd of that size with a smile.

The OSSPL is a men’s slow-pitch league for players 70 years and older who want to continue to play for enjoyment at a competitive level consistent with our ages. We play for fun, however all teams are highly competitive when the "Play ball" command comes from the umpire.
